The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program in Aging and Disability Services is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic professional to lead a dedicated team who helps to protect and improve the quality of care and quality of long-term care for Montgomery County residents through advocacy. The Long-Term Care Program is a resident-centered advocacy program. The Manager ensures that LTCOP accomplishes its goals to address resident right issues and concerns.
The position advocates for County residents by interfacing with nursing homes, group homes, assisted living facilities, staff, residents, and family of residents for the betterment of the aging population.
The position manages nine merit staff responsible for complaint investigations and resolutions for over 7,800 Long Term Care (LTC) beds in the County. The merit staffs conduct weekly facility visits, develop in-service training for facility staff related to health care issues, and organize family councils.
The program also recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers in 34 nursing homes and over 200 assisted living facilities. Volunteers investigates and resolves complaints from facilities' residents and families. The program manager must ensure that the staff and volunteers have the necessary knowledge, skills and training to facilitate complaint resolution.
This position requires excellent organizational skills, knowledge of LTC regulatory environment, and the ability to anticipate and adapt to changes in all areas of management, personnel, policy and regulations.
In addition to the duties above, this position represents the County at Statewide· Ombudsman meetings and serves on several taskforces addressing LTC residents' rights, the protection of vulnerable adults and end of life care and other duties as assigned.
Experience: Thorough five (5) years professional experience working in a Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program serving seniors and persons with significant disabilities in nursing facilities or assisted living facilities including 3-5 years’ professional experience supervising staff.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
