Are you ready to step into an essential role as a Special Assistant to the County Executive? Join our team and provide invaluable high-level administrative and operational support to the Office of Executive Management. This role provides direct day-to-day support to the County Executive and requires sound judgement, discretion, organizational skills and the ability to analyze situations to quickly determine what information is needed and the best approach to engage all involved stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a passion for public service, the ability to navigate complex organizational and policy issues, an awareness and insight into community interests and keen political acumen. This role is essential to enhancing the County Executive and the Office of Executive Management's efficiency and effectiveness, enabling the team to focus on strategic decision-making and leadership responsibilities.
Reporting directly to the County Executive, the ideal candidate for this role will be a proactive problem solver who can provide high-level operational assistance and administrative support. The incumbent must be able to establish rapport and maintain essential and positive work relationships and communication with County leadership at all levels, the public and our workforce. Acts as the primary point of contact for the County Executive and his Liaison to internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will be trusted to act with integrity and the highest standards of professionalism, while maintaining confidentiality of highly sensitive information. This position regularly interacts with Elected Officials and their staff, Executive Cabinet, County leadership (department/agency heads) and other County employees.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining strong working relationships with the offices of the Board of County Supervisors
- Managing the flow of communication within the Office of Executive Strategic Planning and Performance Management Support

- Coordinate and oversee special projects / initiatives

Preferred Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, Communications or a related field
- Four (4) years of progressive experience in communications, public administration and/or office management.
- Experience working in a municipal government setting, with Boards, elected officials, the media and the public.
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders
- Strategic thinking and analytical ability
- Strong understanding of local government operations and public policy
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to develop clear, concise reports and presentations
- High level of professionalism, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with tact and discretion
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative and results-driven environment
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team or staff
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver results in a fast-paced environment

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required to meet the demands of the job.
Compensation & Benefits: $131,000.00 - $177,500.000/yr. (commensurate with experience). In addition to excellent pay, we offer:
